Manuela Villiger (*1992) is a Swiss multimedia artist, saxophonist, and performer based in Olten, Switzerland. Trained as a classical saxophonist, she has shifted her focus mainly towards the creation of multimedia art, installations, and interdisciplinary music performances, incorporating live electronics, sensors, and new technologies. Her work reflects a profound fascination for organic processes, especially within the human body and in nature. Additionally, she has a keen interest in exploring the complexities of social dynamics, structures, and identities. Regularly collaborating with international artists, she functions as both a composer and performer, and she is a member of eventuell., Ensemble Sargo, and BOLD. Manuela has been honored with cultural grants from the Canton of Solothurn (2016) and the City of Olten (2020). In 2023, she received a grant from the ‚Landis & Gyr Foundation‘ for a six-month artist residency in London.

Nach Studien für klassisches Saxophon konzentriert sie sich nun auf die Kreation von Multimedia-Projekten, Installationen und interdisziplinäre Musikperformances, wobei sie intensiv mit Live-Elektronik, Sensoren und neuen Technologien arbeitet. Ihre Werke spiegeln eine tiefe Faszination für organische Prozesse – insbesondere im menschlichen Körper und der Natur – wider. Darüber hinaus hat sie ein ausgeprägtes Interesse daran, die Komplexität gesellschaftlicher Dynamiken, Strukturen und Identitäten zu erforschen. Sie arbeitet sowohl als Komponistin wie auch als Performerin regelmässig mit internationalen Künstler*innen zusammen und ist unter anderem festes Mitglied von eventuell., Ensemble Sargo, BOLD und BlasArt. Sie wurde mit Kulturförderpreisen sowohl vom Kanton Solothurn (2016) als auch von der Stadt Olten (2020) ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2023 erhielt sie ein Stipendium von der ‚Landis & Gyr Foundation‘ für einen sechsmonatigen Künstleraufenthalt in London.
