Manuela Villiger (*1992) is a Swiss saxophonist and composer based in Olten (CH). Trained as a classical saxophone player, she now focuses mainly on the performance of contemporary music and the production of interdisciplinary performance projects. She is not limited to instrumental works, but is increasingly involved in performative and installative works incorporating multimedia. Very interested in combining performative, acoustic and digital elements, she works intensively with live electronics and visuals. The inclusion of live data generated by physical sensors forms an important element in her work as a composer. She regularly collaborates with international composers and participates in various festivals. She is a member of eventuell., Ensemble Sargo and Bold? and was awarded a cultural prize by the canton of Solothurn in 2016 and by the city of Olten in 2020. In 2023 she received a grant from the „Landis & Gyr Foundation“ for a six-month artist residency in London.
